Which Event is best for me?

The Lorien Trust runs large Live Action Role playing events or LARPs. The events that are run by the Lorien Trust are based on a continent of the planet of Erdreja, this continent is called the Heartlands. The Heartlands are split into 10 Faction lands. Each of these lands has it's own theme and characteristics. Between these Factions exist the 10 Guilds, who serve to provide special knowledge and training. More information on the Factions and Guilds can be found later in the new player section.

The four main events run by the Lorien Trust are the Heartland Games, The two Faction Moots, and The Gathering.

The Gathering is the largest Live role playing event of its kind in Europe, with over 3,000 people in attendance at the final battle in the past. This event is the meeting of all the Factions and Guilds jointly hosted by 2 of the main Factions. The Gathering is a spectacle in itself; over 2,000 people in costume of all sorts, who come from all around the world to be there and join in the various plots that go on throughout the weekend. This event is suitable for all players of any level whether you are new to the events or an established role player. This is the best event to visit all the factions and see which one suits your taste the best or visit the guilds and see which guild you may wish to join.

The Faction Moots are run over two weekends with half the Factions at one moot weekend and the rest at the following weekend. There is one Faction over all responsible for hosting each moot weekend in the Heartlands. The moots are a good start for any player, with less players in attendance it tends to be easier to see the whole event and visit those factions in attendance at each moot. As well as the guilds who you will find are slightly less populated with only approximately half the players there.

The Heartland Games is a special event, run on the Island of Roak, independent to any Faction by two Olog brothers called Orcus and Spittle. The Games' allow you to meet people outside of the usually turbulent atmosphere of the Moots and Gathering. This gives you a chance to meet new people by joining teams of players competing in various games for a magical prize.

The Factions and Guilds also run their own small sanctioned events for their particular factions and guilds. So if you have a particular interest in a Faction or Guild, you may wish to attend one of these prior to the main events. It is always best to contact the event organisers of these events beforehand and let them know you are a new player and see what arrangements they can make to help you.
