Things to do when you're attending an event can really be broken down into two parts, these are in-character and out of character. In-character things to do are quite varied. There are after all, nine other factions (apart from your own) to visit and speak to if you choose. This allows you to learn about the people of these factions and lands and meet new people both in and out of character. That's if your not too busy running messages for the faction guarding their gate or important characters from your own and other factions. Try asking your faction command about these tasks once you're in-character. There's the guild area this is generally an area on the main field of the event where the guilds' people gather. If you are a Spellcaster, Incantor or Healer you will need to visit there to collect your cards used with your skills. The guilds are also an excellent place to meet people from all the factions of Heartlands and learn more about the history of the world. If you have a background concept that involves a skill that is covered by one of the guilds, you can join the relevant guild there, generally this is for a small in-character fee and then be assigned tasks and things to do on behalf of the guild. There is also the market area; an excellent place to visit and be where all the players mix whilst shopping for that new weapon or piece of costume. Although most the goods are sold for real money you will find that various traders and customers generally will role-play with you. The market place is also close to the bar where every night players gather to enjoy each others company, and a drink or two! The main theme area. This is an arena at the Heartland Games where the games are centred with a ritual circle where the Mages and Incantors of the Heartlands, perform their rituals to create new magic items at the other main events. This area is always worth a look around, although it is not always the safest in-character place to be. The ritual circles are always bustling with people performing rituals whilst at the games the various teams are present or open competitions are taking place. In previous years this area as been an Ice cave, a great Pyramid and a Underdark Cave. There are also adventures that run all day, there is a signposted adventure area where you can go to sign up on adventures with other players to do a multitude of tasks to earn money or recover lost items. Please note, there is an additional £3 charge for these adventures. While you're around the events, plot is running at all times, not every stranger is friendly and not every monster is a bad guy. There are dozens of NPC's apart from your own faction command who you can talk to whilst they are just around. Try talking to Mage Jinx for a discussion on magic or the balance of Erdreja, and why not try speaking to Floris Lochlan about the immortal patterns and the forces of Good, Evil, Law and Chaos!. These are all things you may wish to do as your character, if you find that you have a little spare time and fancy trying something different, you can volunteer to monster. This normally takes a couple of hours per role and pays in-character cash. You may find this a good way to try different character roles. You could end up being anything from a goblin to a Liche or monstering an adventrure or just as a summoned creature in a ritual. BACK | |||||||
